Big Cable Mega-Mergers Are Challenging to AWE and Independent Programmers
Friends of AWE and independent programming sources:
We need your help. Independent news sources such as AWE and One America News Network further inform our citizens and protect our democracy. A mega-cable merger is about to take place unless the FCC hears your voice. Charter Communications, a company that has filed bankruptcy multiple times in the last 10 years, is preparing to acquire two competitors, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. In this case, bigger isn’t better. Charter Communications has a history of offering unfavorable and anti-competitive terms to independent programmers and flatly refuses to carry AWE. To allow Charter to rapidly expand when it has had trouble simply running its own business and mistreats independent programmers isn’t good for America.
We’re not opposed to this mega-merger, at least not at this time. Instead, we are working hard to raise the awareness of the plight of independent programming services at the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) and throughout Washington, DC. We want Charter to take action to insure that family owned and independent programming networks such as AWE are treated fairly and protected.
The FCC wants to hear your comments on this mega-merger. This is your chance to make a difference and show your support for AWE.
There is a short and simple process to register your support of AWE directly to the FCC. Here’s how:
(PLEASE READ THE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE CLICKING BELOW).
- CLICK HERE to go directly directly to the FCC page for submitting comments.
- Click on Proceeding #15-149: “Commission Opens Docket for Proposed Transfer of Control of Time Warner Cable, Inc. and Charter Communications Inc. and Proposed Transfer of Control of Bright House Networks from Advance/Newhouse Partnership to Charter Communications Inc.”
- Click “Continue” at the end, where you will review your information and comments.
- Click “CONFIRM” to send your comments to the FCC.
I ask that you do this without delay, as there is limited time to make your voice heard. Each and every comment takes us one step closer to insuring that AWE and independent sources of programming are not ignored during these big mega cable mergers.
Together, we can make a difference and protect independent news voices.
I apologize for asking for your help, but the attitude of these big cable programming executives make this all necessary. We must stand up now, to make sure that independent news voices are heard.
Thank you for your support,
Robert Herring, Sr.
